Seven Y swimmers Achieve All-American honors

Two Hillsborough High School graduates among country's top athletes.

The Somerset Valley YMCA is pleased to announce that seven high school athletes who swam with the  YMCA swim team have been named to USA Swimming's Scholastic All-America team for 2011 .

The team is made up of a select group of high school swimmers from across the country who last year earned a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and who met the required time cut for a single event.

This is the largest group in the history of the Y swim program to have achieved this honor. These hard-working swimmers have excelled both in and out of the pool, under the direction of  YMCA head coach, Matt Donovan.

"This is an excellent achievement and goes to show how well-balanced our swimmers are.  They are the truest example of what the term 'student athlete' embodies.  I could not be prouder of these tremendous young people," said Donovan.

The swimmers are: David Chung, of Hillsborough High School,  Sean Johnson, a 2011 graduate of Hillsborough High School; Victor Luo and Dana Yu, from Bridgewater-Raritan High School, and Thomas Rinaldi, a 2011 graduate of Bridgewater-Raritan High School;
Silke Herold, a 2011 graduate of  Hunterdon Central High School; and Dana Rzewnicki, a 2011 graduate of Piscataway High School.
