Chabad Dinner to Honor Somerset Medical Center's Kenneth Bateman

Annual dinner fundraiser set for Nov. 14 at The Imperia, in Somerset.

Chabad’s 11th anniversary in the Southern Somerset County area will include a special honor for Somerset Medical Center CEO Kenneth Bateman.

The Gala Dinner marking the anniversary will be held Nov. 14, at The Imperia Banquet and Conference Center in Somerset.

The Annual Gala Dinner is the only formal fundraising event the Chabad Center organizes, and serves as a way of thanking those who have helped the institution over the past 11 years, and also as a means of raising the needed funds to benefit the religious, educational and social service programs of Chabad in Southern Somerset County.

"When we have a vision, incredible things can happen; Hearts are touched, minds are inspired, and hands clasp to slowly change the world," Rabbi Shmaya Krinsky, the center's leader, said. "In 2002, a handful of people dreamed, linked arms, and continued to envision, to create, and to make a difference."

Rabbi Krinsky noted the Chabad has established "a dynamic hub, which is an island of acceptance and tolerance, regardless of background or affiliation" over the course of its 11 years.

He added the Chabad's work touches hundreds of lives on a daily basis, whether it’s educating children, visiting the sick and elderly, counseling the troubled or enlightening the disillusioned. The Chabad indiscriminately helps people—young and old, Jew and Gentile—helping them to be more principled, more focused and thus more productive members of society.

This gala dinner honors the vision, the visionaries, and those who translate this vision into reality—such as Honoree Kenneth Bateman.

The dinner serves as one of the primary fundraising events for the Chabad, which does not charge membership fees or sell High Holiday seats, relying instead on donations.

“We are indeed fortunate to have been blessed with many individuals and families who, on their own have come forward to help fund our wonderful programs," Rabbi Krinsky said. "Our entire operations budget is covered by such generous contributions.”

Tickets for the evening are $180 per person. There is also an opportunity to advertise in the ad journal the Chabad Center will be printing in honor of this occasion.
