Only one incumbent is running for reelection in this year's Board of Education elections, though one prior board member and a previous board candidate were among the five other residents filing candidacy petitions.
Incumbents Neil Hudes and Wolfgang Schneider did not file petitions for reelection to the Board of Education, whereas incumbent Judy Haas will be running for her current seat on the board.
Residents Frank Herbert, of Baird Drive, Jennifer Haley, of Mulford Lane, Christopher Pulsifer, of Ditmars Circle, Marissa Sladek, of Dover Court and David Wald, of Bywater Court, filed petitions as well.

Pulsifer is a prior board of education member and past board president, but did not run for re-election after his term expired in 2006. He cited increased work commitments as the reason for not running for his seat then.
David Wald, who served on the township's Cable Advisory Committee, Credit Card Advisory Committee, until December 2010, ran for election on the school board in 2009. During that bid, Wald ran with board member Thomas Kinst, who was elected in 2010, and Nick Pampani, but lost to current board members Marc Rosenberg, Steven Paget and Barbara Sargent.

Herbert serves on the township's Capital Planning Committee and is listed as an alternate on the township's Zoning Board of Adjustment.
Elections for the three three-year seats on the Board of Education and the school budget take place April 27.
