Meet Board of Ed Candidate Lorraine Soisson [VIDEO]

12-year Hillsborough resident seeks first term in next week's school elections.

A township resident for 12 years, Lorraine Soisson seeks her first term on the in next Tuesday's election.

Soissone, 45, is a scientist who runs programs for the U.S. government to develop malaria vaccines to save children in Africa.

Soissone and her husband, Stephen, also a scientist, have two children, Hanna, 13, a student at , and Elena, 11, a sixth-grader at .

Patch asked Soissone why she's seeking to be a member of the Board of Education, her thoughts on the current board's decision to than the state-mandated 2-percent tax levy cap, the challenges that face the district, her goals if elected and why Hillsborough residents should vote for her next week.

Soissone is vying for one of three open Board of Education seats. Also running are incumbent Dana C. Boguszewski, Deena Centofanti, and Allen Zdroik.
