Residents praises candidate as 'honest' and 'ethical.'

The following is a Letter to the Editor submitted by township resident Robert Sause.

To the Editor:

It is with great enthusiasm that I ask you to join me in voting for Aldo Martinez to the on April 17, 2012. I have had the great pleasure of Aldo’s acquaintance for several years through our mutual involvement at St. Ann School in Raritan, where Aldo currently serves as president of the school advisory council (SAC). Through my work with Aldo, I can attest that he has the necessary leadership skills, experience and moral character to serve Hillsborough’s schools and students with integrity and commitment.

As president of the SAC, Aldo leads the council that advises the pastor and principal in matters relating to school finances, curriculum and marketing endeavors. Under Aldo’s leadership, the council had authored and implemented a three-year strategic plan which details an integrated approach to address challenges facing the school. Aldo consistently evaluates the performance of the plan through measurable goals and objectives to ensure its benefits to the school and its students. The positive results of the plan are palpable at the school, which includes a marked increase in enrollment since Aldo has served as president of the SAC.

Aldo values the experiences and opinions of others; his leadership style fosters a strong sense of collaboration, encouraging open communication between its members while focusing on respect for others and established trust within the organization. Aldo has the ability to understand all sides of an issue, and poses the right questions to ensure all aspects of a topic are vetted. Aldo has consistently demonstrated his ability to make tough decisions and to stand by his convictions.

Aldo brings with him a wealth of experience in the operational and administrative aspects of education. Aldo has served for nine years at St. Athanasius School in the Bronx, N.Y., as a SAC member and chairman, and four years at Mt. St. Mary Academy in Watchung, as a development cabinet member and co-chair, and chair of the corporation and businesses sub-committee.

In addition, Aldo is a member of the College Board of Regents at St. Peter’s College since 2007, and is a former junior achievement board member after serving as a presenter to the organization since 1987. Aldo was also the recipient of the 1989 Humanitarian Award from “Jobs for Youths, Inc.” of New York. Through these experiences, Aldo has proven his ability to align resources to school initiatives to realize his high expectations for student achievement and quality instruction.

Most importantly, Aldo has an honest, ethical and moral character. Aldo demonstrates integrity in all his interactions; he is true to his word, treats everyone in a fair and equitable manner and his strong belief system is reflected in his actions. Aldo keeps the students first, as they are his highest priority.

If elected, Aldo will bring these same skills and talents to the Hillsborough School Board. I urge you to join me in supporting him on April 17.

Sincerely,

Robert Sause, PharmD (Hillsborough resident)
