Cheers for National Champs

The Hillsborough Dukes PeeWee cheering squad's hard work netted them a national title.

  • Whiz Kid's Name:  Hillsborough Dukes Pee Wee Cheerleading
  • Whiz Kid's Age: The 18-member squad is composed of fifth and sixth grade students.
  • Whiz Kid's School: Auten Road Intermediate School
  • Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: The cheerleaders beat 13 other squads from across the country to take first place at the National Cheer Championships, held in Disney World in Nov. 2010.
  • Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Practice, skill, talent .  .  . and help from their coaches.  The girls practice for two-hours two to three times per week, with their coaches stressing hard work throughout the practice and the season.
  • Know a great kid who made Eagle Scout or did your local soccer team take the championship? They may be our next Patch Whiz Kids honoree.

    Each week, Hillsborough Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments.
