Rotary Club Set to Launch New Fundraising Project

Even while being honored at Township Committee, club moves focus onto new community project.

If the lengthy list of contributions members of the Rotary Club of Hillsborough have made to the township cited during Mayor Doug Tomson's proclamation declaring January "Rotary Month" in Hillsborough at last weeks Township Committee meeting wasn't enough, Rotarian Joe Horner added one more.

As if proving the motto of "Service Above Self," Horner quickly thanked the township for the honor—then noted the club s preparing to raise money to purchase a new senior van for the township.

"We're going to be doing some fundraisers over the next two or three months, kids breakfasts and things like that," he said. "We've got to raise some money to buy a new van."

The club had donated a van more than a decade ago, which is no longer usable.

As noted at the meeting, the club helps support many local projects—from the annual Rotary Fair to the annual dictionary and scholarship projects for students.

Watch for more details about the club's fundraising for the seniors van—or join up with the club members at one of the meetings, held each Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Pheasant's Landing.
