Learn CPR, Gardening Skills at Health Fair

Thursday's programs could help save a life—maybe yours!

Thursday's Community Health Fair at the Hillsborough municipal complex has added programs to the agenda for the day, all aimed at providing helpful information—or an entertaining reason to visit.

The fair is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., following an early session for seniors.

A number of local groups will be giving demonstrations throughout the fair, including The Circus Place, The Hillsborough YMCA, The Neshanic Garden Club, and Body by Margo, The Hillsborough Rockettes, Hillsborough Senior Exercise and .

St. Hubert’s Giralda Animal Shelter will bring pets and have information about pet care, pet adoption, and dog bite prevention.

The Hillsborough Rescue Squad will do Family and Friends CPR classes, with two classes planned for about 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the Health Conference Room.

Other events and participants include:

  • The Girl Scouts will present an activity for Nutrition Education;
  • The Boy Scouts will present projects;
  • Somerset Medical Center: Cancer Prevention and the Tobacco Quit Center. Somerset Medical Center will also have an audiologist to do hearing screenings in a separate room and blood glucose testing (blood sugar) with diabetes information in the main room;
  • St. Peters Health Care – blood pressure and glucose (blood sugar);
  • Dr. Mehrotra- SKN Foundation -BMI measurements;
  • Somerset–Morris County Cancer Coalition skin cancer;
  • ShopRite’s Rachel Simpers, Registered Dietician with Nutrition information;
  • Family Foot and Ankle will do foot exams;
  • Walgreen’s Pharmacy;
  • Body Shop Total Fitness—Fat analysis;
  • Powerhouse Gym—Children’s Summer program;
  • Princeton Fitness and Wellness Center;
  • The Hillsborough Recreation Department;
  • Elder care and home care information will be available from Emeritus at Hillsborough, The Avalon, Home Instead, Right At Home; and Foothill Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation;
  • Princeton Health Care will do balance checks;
  • The Somerset Community Visiting Nurses Association will have two nurses to do blood pressurechecks and a registered dietician to do nutrition information;
  • Hillsborough Podiatry will have information on healthy feet;
  • Hillsborough Life Skills will have information about proper medication disposal;
  • The Carrier Clinic will have information available;
  • Natural Medicine and Rehabilitation-Body Stress Screening;
  • Princeton Fitness and Wellness and Wellness Center;
  • University Radiology—information
