UPDATE: Ciattarelli Temporarily Fills Biondi's Seat

Hillsborough resident steps down as freeholder, gets head start as assemblyman.

Jack M. Ciattarelli, who was recently elected to the New Jersey General Assembly, resigned last week as Somerset County freeholder and will temporarily fill Peter Biondi's assembly seat for the remainder of the year, according to NJ.com.

“My November 8th, 2011 election to the Assembly in New Jersey’s newly configured 16th Legislative District requires preparations that preclude me from fulfilling my responsibilities on the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders,” Ciattarelli said in his letter of resignation.

“It has been an honor and privilege to represent the citizens of Somerset County on the Board,” he wrote.  “It has also been my pleasure to work with county employees and volunteers who endeavor each day to provide citizens the county government they deserve.”
