Democratic Candidates Offer Campaign Comments on Election Eve

You, the residents of Hillsborough have been opening your doors to us for weeks now, asking us questions and speaking with us about your concerns. It is our privilege and honor to be pursuing the Township Committee positions this year. 

As we approach Election Day this Tuesday, we are very much aware of our priorities and that you and the quality of your life as residents of Hillsborough are those priorities. We have demonstrated our commitment to fiscal responsibility and the safety of our community. We believe that every expense line item should be thoroughly reviewed at budget time and throughout the year.

We have discussed the need for empowered citizen committees to have input into the future of our downtown and our community overall.  We feel that people should serve on boards and commissions according to their talent and interest, not according to their political party. We feel that the township is here to serve residents of all political parties and all backgrounds and that people should be able to make comments at township or planning or zoning meetings without hostile responses from the dais.  We will continue to stand up for you and to be a voice for straight talk and transparency on your behalf.

As your representatives, we will:

·         Find creative solutions to stop property tax increases.

·         Keep our neighborhoods, businesses, and streets safe and secure

·         Serve taxpayers, not special interests

·         Demand transparent, responsible, accountable and inclusive government

·         Support a fair, respectful collective bargaining process.
