Burchette GOP's Choice to Replace Wagner

The Hillsborough delegation of the Somerset County Republican Committee has made its selection to replace current Committeeman Bob Wagner on the November ballot.

At a special meeting held at Avalon, local business owner and planning board member Greg Burchette was selected unanimously to run on the GOP ticket for Township Committee.

Burchette, who resides in the Belle Mead area with wife Sella and son Jared, replaces three-term Committeeman Wagner on the ballot, .

Burchette is the owner of on Union Avenue in Bridgewater. A graduate of Moravian College and Lehigh University, he is a trained hydrogeologist who pursued that career for over a decade before taking over his current business, according to a release from the Hillsborough Republican Committee.

He is also professionally and personally involved in aviation, serving as the manager of Central Jersey Regional Airport in Hillsborough, and volunteering his time with Angel Flight NE, providing free flights to those in need of air transport for medical care, according to the release.

Locally, the release says, Burchette is a long-time member of the Hillsborough Rotary Club, and volunteers annually to work at the organization’s summer fair. He is a former chairman of the township’s environmental commission, and is a current member of the planning board, on which he has served for eight years, with a two-year stretch as chairman, and the Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA), according to the release.

 “The local GOP organization is thrilled to have someone of Greg’s caliber, experience and accomplishments step forward to serve his community in an even greater capacity,” Hillsborough Republican party chair Dr. Steven Sireci said in the release. “He presents a terrific combination of technical expertise, business savvy, local government experience, and dedication to community service that is ideal in a Township Committeeman. Greg was an obvious choice for us, and we are pleased and proud to have him on the ballot in November.”
