Appointments, Ordinances Up for Approval at Town Committee Meeting

The Township Committee's agenda includes proclamations and the introduction of one new ordinance.

Another set of presentations and proclamations mark the beginning of this week’s Township Committee Meeting, with the committee presenting a proclamation to Hillsborough High School wrestler T.J. Guidice.

A presentation from the credit card advisory committee and Affinity Bank, which has administered the township credit card program, is on the agenda as well.

There are three public hearings on the agenda, with the first, 2011-03, changing the development regulations of the township code to allow nurseries and garden centers in the HOO district.  According to Township Planner Bob Ringelheim, the change allows Central Jersey Nursery, which sold a portion of its land to the state for use in the Route 206 Bypass, to expand onto other property it owns.  The property, however, is in another zoning district, necessitating the change.

The second ordinance up for approval, 2011-05, amends development regulations in the Town Center District to specify the number of residential units allowed in a building.

The third ordinance, 2011-06, permits a public auction on the access and maintenance to Vroom Drive, a paper street in the town.  The street exists only on planning maps of the town and is not actually a physical street.

Only one new ordinance will be introduced tomorrow night.  The ordinance proposes amendments to Ordinance 2008-18, which involves the funds used for Capital Improvements.  The township’s Capital Improvements Committee recommended a list of eight projects for 2011 to township’s Planning Board during its Feb. 24 meeting; the committee must accept projects from that list in order for the projects to go forward.

The considerations agenda includes the appointment of Pamela Borek as Secretary to the Administrator/Clerk, at an annual salary of $39,000, effective March 14, and the appointment of April Crossen as Deputy Treasurer at an annual salary of $48,500, effective March 9.

The considerations agenda also includes accepting a request from the Department of Public Works Employee Association, permitting a change to the Teamsters Local Union 469.  The change would be effective March 9.

The Township Committee meets at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Courtroom.
