Two Men Indicted for String of Home Burglaries

Charges are for alleged incidents in Hillsborough, Warren, Green Brook and Montgomery.

Two men have been indicted for a series of burglaries in Hillsborough, Warren, Green Brook and Montgomery, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said Thursday.

Nicholas James Pokriots, 24, last known address is Trenton, was indicted on 14 counts of third-degree burglary and attempted burglary and 10 counts of third- and fourth-degree theft and two counts of third- and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Christian Nigro, 25, of Old Bridge, was indicted on seven counts of third-degree burglary and attempted burglary, four counts of third- and fourth-degree theft, one count of fourth-degree criminal mischief and one count of third-degree receiving stolen property.

The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Burglary Task Force began an investigation in the fall of 2011 into a series of similar residential burglaries, the prosecutor's office said.

Several of the burglaries were committed on the same day and in the same neighborhood, the prosecutor's office said. Forensic evidence indicated forced entry was gained into the homes and the master bedrooms were ransacked, the prosecutor's office said.

The investigation led to the arrest of Pokriots on Jan. 26, 2012, the prosecutor's office said. Pokriots has also been charged with burglary for other alleged incidents in Mercer and Hunterdon counties, the prosecutor's office said.

Pokriots is being held at the Hunterdon County Jail on multiple bails and detainers filed by several jurisdictions, the prosecutor's office said.

Nigro was arrested on April 18 and has been out on bail since April 19, the prosecutor's office said.

A trial date has not yet been set.
