Police Issue Drawing of Sunnymeade Road Assault Suspect

Man wanted in connection to Dec. 7 robbery and assault.

A composite sketch of the man sought by police for assaulting a Sunnymeade Road couple on Dec. 7 has been released by Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Timothy Fitzgerald, and Hillsborough Township Chief of Police Paul Kaminsky.

The man is described as a black male over 5 feet, 10 inches in height, with a medium build and long hair in dreadlocks.    

He is believed to have entered the Sunnymeade Road residence at about 10:30 a.m. Dec. 7, armed with a hammer, and assaulted the 80-year-old female and a 57-year-old male residents with the hammer while demanding money from them.

Soriano said after the assault, the suspect locked both victims in a bedroom closet. They escaped about six hours later, and called Hillsborough Township Police Department. 

Both victims sustained injuries and were transported to Somerset Medical Center where they were treated and released.

Soriano the man took personal items and left the neighborhood in one of the victims’ vehicles, a 2000 gray Toyota Camry which was later recovered in Raritan Borough near the train station.

Crime Stoppers of Somerset County, Inc. is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect.
