Dozing Driver Crashed Into Pole, Fire Hydrant, Cops Say

Road was closed for about 10 hours after utility pole knocked down.

A township man fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a utility pole and fire hydrant, causing the closure of Amwell Road for about 10 hours Friday night, Hillsborough Police said.

Arnold Trabb, 69, did not report being injured after the incident, which occurred shortly before 4 p.m., police said.

Police closed the road from Hoceknbury to Woodfern roads overnight, as Verizon crews worked to repair the downed pole and utility lines that were on the roadway blocking traffic.
