Fire Caused by Downed Wires, Closes Route 206
Police alert says highway was reopened at about 6:40 p.m. on Monday.
Downed power lines caused a small brush fire and shut down Route 206 in both direction for a little more than an hour on Monday evening in Hillsborough.
Police, fire and utility companies worked to control the situation after Hillsborough police issued an alert at 5:10 p.m. saying the highway was closed between Hillsborough Road and Raider Boulevard. The wires caused a small fire on the front lawn of a township residence along the highway.
PSE&G was seen arriving to the area at approximately 5:45 p.m. The company's outage map reported between one and 500 customers without power in the township as of 6:45 p.m.
