Claremont Drive House Destroyed in Fire

All local fire companies respond to early morning blaze.

A fire first reported at about 3 a.m. Monday destroyed an unoccupied Claremont Drive residence.

No injuries were reported in the extensive fire, and the house has been rendered uninhabitable.

Area fire companies battled the fire for more than two hours in an attempt to save the structure, with multiple calls issued for additional support. Fire fighters from all three Hillsborough fire companies, Neshanic Fire Co., Millstone Valley, Middlebush, Somerset, Elizabeth Avenue, Montgomery and Griggstown fire companies also responded. Also, Hillsborough and Somerville Rescue Squads, Hillsborough Fire Safety and Office of Emergency Management and police.

Fire officials are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which is not believed to be suspicious.
