Accident Leads to DWI Charge

Hillsborough man also charged with failing to use hands-free wireless device.

Jonathan Evans, 40, of Hillsborough, was charged with DWI, careless driving and for failing to use a hands-free device after the vehicle he was driving on Sunnymead Road was involved in an accident, according to Hillsborough police.

The incident occurred on Jan. 3.

Police said breath tests after the accident showed a blood alcohol content level of 0.23 percent. State law defines a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher as intoxicated.

Evans was released after the charge was filed, pending an appearance in municipal court.
