Hillsborough Mom Thanks 'Family Friendly' Candidate

Lifelong resident says she found an admiration for Greg Burchette at the Rotary Fair.

The following Letter to the Editor was submitted by lifelong Hillsborough resident Dana Goldan Sealander, thanking and endorsing Hillsborough Township Committee Candidate Greg Burchette.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending the with my children. It was a great evening for some family fun! Who would have thought that I would have learned so much about Hillsborough, some of the local clubs and businesses, and the history of the fair.

I didn't realize that the fair wasn't always under the auspices of the Rotary club. As it turns out, and I assume most Hillsborough-ites knew this already, the Rotary Club took over the fair years ago, when it seemed as if it might disappear from our summer landscape.

As a mom, I am happy that the community of Hillsborough has such great pride in keeping "our town" a family friendly place.

When I found out that one of the active members of the Rotary Club, Greg Burchette, was running for our township committee, I felt compelled to write. Mr. Burchette is clearly a man who is devoted to this town and would bring that dedication to the township committee. Interestingly, my son knew this too! As it turns out, when I was introduced to Mr. Burchette at the fair, my son told me "Hey, that's the guy who came to school and gave me a dictionary!"

Mr. Burchette, I didn't get a chance to thank you that night, but please accept this public display of thanks. Thank you for helping make Hillsborough a family friendly community. Thank you for your dedication ... and thank you for giving my son (and all of his friends it turns out) a new dictionary at school!

This November, I'll be voting for Mr. Burchette as the newest member of our Township Committee. Along with our Mayor Carl Suraci, I think we have two great candidates to keep a family-friendly Hillsborough a certainty in these uncertain times.
