Board of Ed and a School Play on Tap This Week

Board will hear student presentations on Picasso's art and water studies, and a look at new science standards.

When the Hillsborough Board of Education meets Monday night, the agenda includes time for some students presentations before the board turns serious.

Students from Amsterdam and Sunnymead schools will be on hand for the presentations, which often provide a chance for the students to showcase their knowledge and skills.

The board will also hear a presentation on Next Generation Science Standards, by Kim Feltre, the district's supervisor of science.

The board last met on Dec. 17, just three days after the shootings in Newtown, Conn., and while the board did discuss security issues at the meeting, the topic may come up again. The board has received a number of letters from parents about security, which may be discussed.

The other big news this week in Hillsborough schools is the middle school's dramatic production, "Scheherazade," which opens Friday. We'll bring a first look at the presentation, as well as coverage of the board meeting, this week on Hillsborough Patch.
