YMCA Introduces Associate Aquatics Director

Lisa Slover, who has spent the last five years working in aquatics programs at YMCAs in New Jersey, has joined the as associate director of aquatics.

Slover, 26, a graduate of Rider University with a degree in psychology, is pleased to be back in central New Jersey, working at a YMCA near where she grew up in Middlesex County.

She previously worked at the YMCA of Salem County in Carney’s Point in south Jersey, where she supervised and developed aquatics programs.

A competitive swimmer from the age of 8 through high school, Slover got her start swimming at the Metuchen YMCA and spent many hours on the pool deck while growing up. 

She is proud to be a part of the Y’s mission of ensuring water safety–whether it is through swim lessons, lifguard training or educating the public about the importance of  staying safe and secure around  bodies of water.

“One of the reasons I love the Y is I have the opportunity to work with and educate the community,” Slover said. “Our programs not only teach water safety, they build confidence and self-esteem while encouraging kids to have fun with each other in the water.

“I look forward to helping to bring new programs to and developing relationships with our Y members.”

Prior to Salem County, she worked in aquatics at the Cumberland Cap Atlantic YMCA in Vineland and the South Brunswick Family YMCA in Monmouth Junction.

In addition to her degree from Rider University, she has human resources certificate from Middlesex County College. 

The Hillsborough YMCA has a comprehensive aquatics program offering swim lessons for adults and children, open swim time and has a therapy pool in addition to a six-lane competitive pool. It also part of the SVY state championship swim team.
