Rotary Club Fundraiser Offers Dance and Romance

The Rotary Club's annual Valentine's Day Dinner and Dance is set for Saturday.

Tickets are still available for an evening of dance and romance, sponsored by the Hillsborough Rotary Club.

“Last year, it was a sold-out event,” Tony DiAngelo, who is assisting event Chairman Mary Ann Lukas, said. “We actually had a waiting list.”

This year, about 50 tickets are still available for the dinner and dance, which is from 7 p.m. to midnight Feb. 11 at in Hillsborough. Tickets are $75, and cover open bar, appetizers, buffet dinner, dancing and dessert.

“We’ve done it in a first-class way,” DiAngelo said. “Everyone who has gone in the past has had a good time. We’ve heard nothing but good feedback.”

Tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets can be purchased by calling Mary Ann Lukas at 908-507-7976 or Tony DiAngelo at 973-202-1394.

Like previous years, proceeds from the night will go to Project Graduation for the class of 2012. The graduation night tradition provides an all-night, drug-and-alcohol free celebration for Class of 2012. It is funded entirely through donations and fundraisers and does not receive money from the Township or school district.

“It can definitely use the support,” DiAngelo said.

While the dinner and dancing is not on the night itself, DiAngelo said that increases the event’s appeal. It’s also one of the reasons it’s sold out in years past.

“Many people celebrate Valentine’s Day the weekend before,” he said. “I think it makes it more popular because of that.”

“You can have a good night out,” he added. “Restaurants are usually busy on Valentine’s, so you don’t quite get the time or the quality service you would normally.
