Blues Bands to Keep Music Festival Grounded

Expect a dose of R&B in the blues from Slackjaw and Blues Republic.

When the Hillsborough Music Festival kicks off at 2 p.m. Saturday, the audience will be treated to musical performers offering nearly every genre.

Two bands—Slackjaw and Blues Republic—will handle the blues for the show.

Blues Republic—Pete Nostrand (Vocals, Keys), Rob McTaggart (Vocals, Drums), John Karpousis (Guitar) and Jack Buckman (Bass)—will perform original songs as well as standards, like "Mustang Sally" and other classics.

The band is scheduled to play at 5:50 p.m.

Slackjaw, with members John Thompson, Randy Marinelli and Carl Capodice, play their modern, original takes on the blues. Some may have caught their act last week in Somerville, when they performed in the "Live on Division Street" series.
