Y's Youngest Swimmers Dive Into Fundraising Project

Kindergarten and Pre-K classes collect pledges for Strong Kids Fund.

Students enrolled in the Hillsborough Family YMCA’s all-day kindergarten, kindergarten enrichment, Pre-K Plus and Five Day Little Sprouts classes took part in a Swim-A-Thon, using the skills they've learned in thier weekly swim classes to raise funds for the Y’s Strong Kids annual support campaign.

Teachers Lynn Masters and Koryn Palumbo created the Swim-A-Thon, giving the children not only the opportunity to demonstrate the progress made in their instructional swim classes, but they were able to use those skills to help others in the community.

The children collected pledges for each lap they swam for the event held April 16 and 17 at the Hillsborough Family YMCA. The Y’s annual support campaign provides assistance for children and others in the community to use life-enhancing Y programs and services such as summer camp, water safety lessons, early childhood care and education. The YMCA’s Strong Kids annual support campaign helps the Y improve the lives and nurture the potential of our local community.
