Sweet Tooth, Sweet Fundraiser

Guess where your sweet-toothed Patch editor will be this evening.

Looking for a sweet way to ease into the weekend? A Cupcake and Champagne Tasting fundraiser at Emeritus Assisted living tonight fulfils that craving.

Though tickets aren’t required, the facility suggests a $10 donation for those attending.

Proceeds from the fundraiser—which will have raffles, demonstrations and cupcake samples— benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.

You Need to Know About Vaccinations: Miss the first round of $20 flu vaccinations from the Hillsborough Health Department? The department will administer the vaccine from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Hillsborough Municipal Building. Those will Medicare cards will not be charged the $20, so if you have one, present it.

You Need to Know About Optical Illusions: The Hillsborough Public Library presents two programs on Optical Illusions today. The first, at 10 a.m., is geared four to six year olds, and the second, at 4 p.m., is meant for students in grades kindergarten to two. For either program, you’ll want to call 908-369-2200, ext. 14, to let them know you’re coming.

You Need to Know About Football and Food Drives: The Hillsborough High School Football team takes on Ridge at home at 7 p.m. tonight, and that means the Hillsborough High School Cheerleaders will be collecting non-perishable items for the Somerset County Food Bank. Donations can be dropped off in the boxes near the admission gate when entering the game.

You Need to Know About Public Speaking: The Hillsborough Toastmasters Club, the local branch of the international non-profit devoted to improving public speaking skills, meets in the Hillsborough Municipal Building tonight. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m., though those attending should arrive by 7:15 p.m. Guests are welcome to attend.
