Police Seek Help Finding Individual Responsible For Somerset County Stabbing

Somerville Borough police need your help locating Jibril Reynolds, 31, of New Brunswick - he is wanted for allegedly stabbing a man in the back after a verbal argument Friday night.  

According to the Somerset County Prosector's Office: 

Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Timothy Fitzgerald and Somerville Borough Chief of Police Dennis Manning announce that law enforcement authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Jibril Reynolds, age 31, last known address of Lawrence Street in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Prosecutor Soriano states that on Friday, July 18, 2014 at approximately 11:15 p.m. Somerville police responded to the emergency room of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital- Somerville on a report of a victim being treated for a knife wound. Responding officers met with victim and observed the blade of a knife protruding from the victim’s lower back.

The victim related that at approximately 10:30 p.m. he and an individual only known to him as “Jibril” engaged in a verbal argument in the vicinity of Center and Third Streets in Somerville. As he turned to walk away from Jibril, he felt a sharp jab to his back. Subsequent to entering a vehicle to leave the area, the victim realized that he had been stabbed with a knife and that the knife blade was still lodged in his back. A friend transported the victim to the emergency room.

Detectives assigned to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to assist in the investigation.

The investigation revealed that Jibril Reynolds was the individual who assaulted the victim.

Defendant Reynolds has been charged with Aggravated Assault, 3rd degree and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, 3rd degree.
