Memorial Day Ceremonies Remember Fallen Soldiers

Parade and Garden of Honor ceremony held at municipal building.

Hillsborough Township held its annual Memorial Day parade and Garden of Honor ceremony on Saturday at the Hillsborough Municipal Building.

The parade's participants included the Hillsborough Police Honor Guard, Grand Marshalls Assemblyman Pete Biondi and Armando Consalvo, Hillsborough Township Veterans, the Central Jersey Motor Pool, 78th Infantry, 1776 Colonial Militia, Hillsborough Township Committee, Hillsborough Rockettes and Rockets, Hillsborough High School Marching Band, Alliance Martial Arts, Recreation Soccer and Softball teams, Hillsborough Baseball League, Brownie Troops, Junior Troops, Daisy Troops, Girl Scouts Troops, Cub Scouts Packs, Triangle Dance Center, Lynn Academy of Irish Dance, Hillsborough Robotics Club, Flagtown Fire Company, Hillsborough Fire Company No. 2, Hillsborough Fire Company No. 3, Neshanic Fire Company, and Hillsborough Rescue Squad.

The parade concluded with remarks about the importance of Memorial Day by Hillsborough Deputy Mayor Carl Suraci, Hillsborough Mayor Gloria McCauley, Grand Marshall Armando Consalvo and Grand Marshall Assemblyman Pete Biondi.

The Garden of Honor Ceremony took place after the parade to honor and remember the nation and Hillsborough community's fallen soldiers and servicemen. The ceremony featured the laying of wreathes at the Garden of Honor monuments to recognize those who gave their lives for the United States of America. Hillsborough Police, Fire Companies, Rescue Squad, Veterans and more, proudly presented a wreath for their respective group.
