Have Fun and Celebrate Health at the YMCA

Healthy Kids Day taking place on Saturday to promote activity. Patch will be there, too.

This weekend it's time for a little health as we celebrate Healthy Kids Day with the Somerset Valley YMCA.

The is celebrating the free community event, along with almost 2,000 other YMCA's across the country. It will feature lots of active, fun and educational activities for stimulating mind and body.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and feature such activities as Zumba, hula-hoop fun, arts and crafts, family boot camp, and a bounce house. Come prepared for swimming and basketball.

Patch will also be at the event, handing out free items for those who sign up for our daily newsletter while supporting the Healthy Kids Day mission.

“At the Hillsborough Family Y, we know that when the school year ends, many kids lose exposure to activities that keep them moving and learning," said Valerie Giacopelli, branch executive director for the Hillsborough Family YMCA. "Healthy Kids Day will help parents begin thinking early about what their kids need to stay physically and intellectually active in the summer. Summer is just around the corner and is an ideal time for kids to get out and grow so they are healthier and sharper when the next school year begins.”

Healthy Kids Day will also be celebrated at the YMCA's other branches in and Somerville. Similar activities will be held in all locations.

Getting the kids involved in healthy activities like this is definitely better than having them cooped up at home watching TV. I love it when my kids put their shoes and gogo out for physical activities. It keeps them stimulated mentally and physically. - http://www.uncomfortablefoot.com
