Happy Thanksgiving!

What's your Patch Editor thankful for? Hot water.

Thanksgiving. It's a day traditionally spent with family and friends, expressing gratitude for all good things in one's life.

Like hot water, which is pretty high on my list of things for which I am grateful.

Yesterday, I woke up to two inches of water in my basement. Though it's been a record year for precipitation, it's actually an isolated incident. One of my dogs, Amber, has a habit of digging holes in the fenced-off doggy restroom spot of the yard.

She dug up the water pipe. I'm not sure if her dog license doubles as a construction license, but, in any case, I won't report her to the township or anything. She's a pretty sweet dog.

Anyway, the exposed pipe froze, causing the sump pump to freak out and flood my basement.

This, in turn, meant the hot water heater went out. Luckily, the water's out of the basement, the heater's back on and I'm very thankful my water isn't frigid.

Happy Thanksgiving, Hillsborough.
