UPDATE: 73-Year-Old Pilot Spent 25 Years Building Plane That Crashed In Hillsborough

Friends of Holmlund said he spent 25 years building the plane which crashed in Hillsborough Wednesday morning, according to newyork.cbslocal.com.

Update: According to Hillsborough police, 73-year-old Victor Holmlund of Hillsborough was piloting the plane at the time of the crash. 

He was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and is listed in fair condition, according to 7online.com

A small amateur-built Auriga plane crashed in a residential yard at 270 Sunnymeade Rd. at about 10 a.m. on Wednesday. 

The plane was reportedly approaching runway 7 at Central Jersey Regional Airport in Hillsborough at the time on of the crash. 

The plane was an amateur-built Auriga aircraft, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Jim Peters.

"We do not know how many people were on board. The FAA is responding," Peters said. "We will update this statement when additional information becomes available.

yup, the last time I checked the airport is in Hillsborough. More excellent reporting by the patch

Central Jersey Regional Airport (FDBA Kupper Airport) is located in Hillsborough Township, not Manville.
