ARTICLE V DEBATE: Should There Be a Convention of the States?

Join us at the Christian Community Chapel, 211 U.S. 206, Hillsborough, NJ on Tuesday, May 13 at 7:00 pm. Help decide one of the most important issues in America today. Fore more information or to register, go to: https://cosnjdebate.eventbrite.com

Our nation is in serious trouble. The federal government has overreached its Constitutional boundaries and grabbed power and control from the hands of the people and the states.

Unless action is taken by the people and the states to restore the balance, America, the Constitutional Republic, will cease to exist.

There is no ONE solution - No silver bullet to restore the Republic. The Founders did, however, include one possible answer. They provided Americans with a tool to be used by the individual states in response to an out-of-control federal bureaucracy.

They put it right there in the Constitution: ARTICLE V - A Convention of States for the Purpose of Proposing Amendments.

Should we use it?

Speaking in favor of an Article V Convention of the States:
MICHAEL FARRIS

A Citizens for Self-Governance's Senior Fellow for Constitutional Studies and head of Convention of the States project, Michael Farris is the Chancellor of Patrick Henry College and Chairman of the Home School Legal Defense Association. He was the founding president of each organization. During his career as a constitutional appellate litigator, he has served as lead counsel in the United States Supreme Court, eight federal circuit courts, and the appellate courts of thirteen states.

Speaking in opposition to an Article V Convention of the States:
ANDREW SCHLAFLY

A national spokesman for Eagle Forum on national issues and founder of 'Conservapedia,' Andrew Schlafly is an attorney and former engineer who frequently submits legal briefs to appellate courts. He is a member of the bars of the U.S. Supreme Court and more than a half-dozen other federal and state courts. His law practice focuses on medical, social and economic issues. He has taught homeschoolers online since the late 1990's and in person since fall of 2002.
