School Board, HEA Reach Agreement

Terms of the agreement to be announced after ratification by union.

Hillsborough Board of Education President Thomas Kinst announced the district and the Hillsborough Education Association reached an agreement on terms for a new contract at Monday's meeting.

The agreement came after lengthy talks on Oct. 22 with a mediator.

Terms of the agreement will be announced after acceptance by the HEA membership and the board, which approved the terms at the meeting—although one item of agreement was acted on at Monday's meeting: a change to the state benefits plan on Feb. 1.

"We would like to thank the board for hearing us and coming to the mediation session on Oct. 22 prepared to talk to us," HEA President Daynon Blevins said.

Blevins said the association would meet "as soon as possible" for ratification vote on the agreement.
