Sometimes there's just not enough days in the week, but every Wednesday we'll give you an idea of something to do to relax, spend time with family and just take some time for yourself. It is the new year, and that means resolutions about losing weight, spending time with family and turning over a new leaf. And we could give information about deals at local gyms and more. But this time, we wanted to focus on mental health, preparing to be happy in the new year and surrounded by people you love. With New Year, Consider New Approach to Wellness

Several options exist to focus the body or spirit

As 2011 begins, there are plenty of ways to start anew–whether your focus is on mind, body, spirit or all three. But even if your goals are ambitious, you can start with small steps. "Even if you practice at least once each week, you will begin to notice a marked increase in energy, and often after even one class, you begin to feel stronger and calmer," said Maggie DiStefano, manager of Studio Yoga in Madison, established by Theresa Rowland more than 20 years ago. Studio Yoga offers six levels of Iyengar yoga instruction. DiStefano said while there are many types of yoga, Iyengar focuses on body alignment, flexibility and strength.
