Lisa Slover is no stranger to YMCA swimming.

Lisa Slover, who has spent the last five years working in aquatics programs at YMCAs in New Jersey, has joined the Hillsborough Family YMCA as associate director of aquatics. Slover, 26, a graduate of Rider University with a degree in psychology, is pleased to be back in central New Jersey, working at a YMCA near where she grew up in Middlesex County. She previously worked at the YMCA of Salem County in Carney’s Point in south Jersey, where she supervised and developed aquatics programs. A competitive swimmer from the age of 8 through high school, Slover got her start swimming at the Metuchen YMCA and spent many hours on the pool deck while growing up. Even though it's winter, weekend events have residents thinking about summer.
March is around the corner, meaning the approach of warm weather, fewer layers and—eventually—swimsuit season. Though that comes as a fearful proposition, a set of free weight loss classes at ShopRite can help with some of those worries. The classes, hosted by the store’s dietician, Rachel Simpers, meet from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 8, 15, 22 and 29.
