Writing on a bathroom wall at Woodmont Elementary School in Montville prompted a bomb scare and an evacuation of the school Wednesday morning while police and a bomb squad checked the building to be sure it was safe, police and school officials said. No bomb was found. Police have released a slideshow of an individual they are trying to identify who was on Finley Lane in Wayne at the time a home on that street was burglarized April 20. Heather Laurence Manco, 37, was killed in the accident near the half-mile marker of Route 287 south about 1 a.m. Tuesday when the SUV she was driving hit the rear corner of a tractor-trailer parked on the shoulder. Compounding the tragic accident, a truck driver was killed when he tried to get to her vehicle to help. It's not unusual for Hillsborough residents to see bears in the springtime—but it is unusual to see them in April...and around the municipal complex (our readers had a few theories about that). Another report of a bear sighting was made Wednesday, a few blocks away.
