Woodfern Elementary School students received a thrill on Thursday during their Flag Day celebration. A Black Hawk helicopter came to the school to pay everyone a visit. The images above show the copter approaching and landing. Diane Movshin also presented the school with an American flag that her husband, Maj. Rob Movshin, had flown over Kandahar Air Force Base in Afghanstan. The couple has two sons that attend the school. Each student also packed bags to be sent to service members overseas. The Woodfern HSA, along with Operation Jersey Cares and Rolling Thunder, sponsored Thursday's packing day. Donations have been collected for the past few months in anticipation of the day.

Students and staff at Woodfern Elementary School showed their support for the troops this week as Memorial Day approaches. Wearing red, white and blue, they gathered to make a "W" for the name of the school. A photo of the powerful image will be sent to soldiers in Afghanistan in packs that will be produced on June 16 when the Woodfern Home and School association holds a packing day. The photo was taken thanks to Flagtown Ladder 36.

School packs at least 450 bags for troops overseas.
Triangle Elementary School continued its tradition of creating care packs for troops overseas for the third year. Students filtered into the school gym throughout the day on Friday, packing baby wipes, deodorant, personal items, batteries, hand warmers, food and more into zip-top bags that will be sent overseas.
