New center on Route 206 will provide treatment for minor injuries and illnesses.
Somerset Medical Center will hold an open house on June 1 for its new Urgent Care Center located at 751 Route 206 North in Hillsborough. The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include information about the new facility, free blood pressure and glucose screenings and an array of children’s activities, including a bounce house, smoke house, face painting and an appearance by Somerset Patriots’ mascot, Sparkee. Car seat safety checks will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Healthy snacks will be served. Somerset Medical Center’s Urgent Care Center at Hillsborough will open in early June, providing walk-in family medical care seven days a week. Hospital scored as having higher number of patients develop blood clots than average scored facility, but fewer accidental cuts or tears from medical treatment.
When ranked along with more than 2,000 general hospitals in the country, Somerset Medical Center received a "B" grade on a newly released report card from Hospital Safety Score. Data shows the hospital was scored as having a higher number of patients who developed blood clots than in the average scored hospital. However, Somerset Medical Center reported fewer accidental cuts or tears from medical treatment. The hospital scored higher than the average hospital for ICU physician staffing and nursing workforce but scored below the average hospital for hand hygiene. In general, hospital scores from across the country show that hospitals have been working toward fewer accidents, injuries, errors or infections that kill or inflict patients, …

Hillsborough Township officials recently toured the Medical Coordination Center at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. The Medical Coordination Center is one of nine in the state established by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services to enhance statewide capability to communicate and disseminate information within the public health care system during large scale public health emergencies. Opened in 2008, the facility serves the state’s Central West Region, which includes Somerset, Hunterdon and Mercer counties. Somerset Medical Center’s Laboratory Service Center in Hillsborough will begin offering convenient Saturday hours on Jan. 5. The Laboratory Service Center at 331 Route 206 North, Suite 2C in Hillsborough will be open from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturdays for routine blood testing. No appointments are necessary. The centers are also open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. In addition, Somerset Medical Center offers outpatient laboratory services at the hospital on 110 Rehill Ave. in Somerville from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The annual event raises money for Somerset Medical Center, but also brings together picnic crowd, elegant tent parties — and fireworks.
Thursday night was a warm summer evening, but not so stiflingly hot as on Wednesday. And Friday's predicted showers were off in the future. Instead, classical music, fine food and socializing made Music at Moorland in Far Hills a perfect evening for many hundreds of music lovers, and — perhaps just as much — for those who wanted the thrill of watching a great fireworks show. The 11th annual event again featured the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and fireworks by the world-famous Grucci family of Long Island. "The best part is the hospital [Somerset Medical Center] gets the funds to expand and do good," said Fritz Mueller of Far Hills, who was one of the first co-chairmen of the event when it launched. Another medical building in Hillsborough. It's like the Hillsborough surplus of pizzerias and Chinese food saga. Can't Hillsborough ever bring in something that we need.
