Accident Closes Dukes Parkway W.

Reopened about an hour later, police said roadway was shut down between Roycefield Road and Route 206.

An accident closed Dukes Parkway West Friday morning, according to an alert by the Hillsborough Police Department. The road was subsequently reopened according to a second alert. Information issued through Nixle at 7:29 a.m. said the roadway was closed between Roycefield Road and Route 206. The alert said the closure was due to a motor vehicle accident. At 7:59 a.m., police issued a second Nixle alert saying the road was reopened.

River Road Closed Monday Evening

County issues alert as Sandy roars through area.

River Road between Amwell Road and the Elm Street Bridge in Hillsborough has been closed, according to an alert from Somerset County. The alert on the closure was issued at about 7:45 Monday night.

Fire Caused by Downed Wires, Closes Route 206

Police alert says highway was reopened at about 6:40 p.m. on Monday.

Downed power lines caused a small brush fire and shut down Route 206 in both direction for a little more than an hour on Monday evening in Hillsborough. Police, fire and utility companies worked to control the situation after Hillsborough police issued an alert at 5:10 p.m. saying the highway was closed between Hillsborough Road and Raider Boulevard. The wires caused a small fire on the front lawn of a township residence along the highway. PSE&G was seen arriving to the area at approximately 5:45 p.m. The company's outage map reported between one and 500 customers without power in the township as of 6:45 p.m. Hillsborough police issued an alert at 6:38 p.m. saying the highway was reopened in both directions.

Oil Spill Closes Triangle, Farm Roads, Police Say

Police sent alert Thursday afternoon at about 3:30.

A stretch of Triangle Road and Farm Road was closed Thursday afternoon due to an oil spill, Hillsborough police said. The department issued an alert at 3:28 p.m. saying the stretch of Triangle Road between Farm Road and Stockton Road was shut down. The alert also said that Farm Road was closed between Triangle Road and Valley Road.

Accident Closes New Center Road

Police said it was shut down from Roycefield Road to Auten Road.

An accident on New Center Road Wednesday morning caused a section to be closed for a short period of time. The road has since been reopened. An alert issued from Hillsborough police at 8:54 p.m. said the road was closed between Roycefield Road and Auten Road due to a motor vehicle accident. Police released an alert at 9:17 a.m. saying the road had been reopened.

I don't even have to be told anything more to know it was someone going TOO FAST for the road conditions. The road has 3 sharp turns (90 degrees) and is used as a bypass from Dukes estate to Belle Mead... eliminating the dreaded Hillsborough parking lot of 206. Trucks come barreling down the road, sometimes crossing the center line, and giving opposing traffic no choice but to hit the ditch. …   more ›

RIver Road Closed Saturday Morning

Will reopen at noon following Basilone Run.

A portion of River Road will be closed during a four-hour period on Saturday morning. Hillsborough police issued an alert saying the road between Roycefield Road and the Basilone Bridge will be closed at 8 a.m. due to the Basilone Run. The road is scheduled to reopen at noon.

Final Road Re-Opened Following Storm

Equator Avenue at 4th St. in is now open Flagtown, police say.

The final township road that was closed due to the strong storms that roared through the area Tuesday night was re-opened by Wednesday afternoon, according to police. Equator Avenue at 4th Street, Longhill Road between Zion and Dutchtown Zion Road and River Road between Amwell Road and Mill Lane were all closed due to downed trees and wires, the Hillsborough Police Department said in an alert Tuesday night. All of them were re-opened as of early Wednesday morning, except for Equator Avenue. However, police sent an alert at 12:35 p.m. saying it had been re-opened, as well.

Dukes Parkway E. Reopened Following Accident

Police said road was closed between Manville and Route 206.

Dukes Parkway East has been reopened following an accident that closed the road down early Tuesday evening, according to Hillsborough Township Police. Police issued an alert at 5:59 p.m. saying the road was shut down between Manville and Route 206 due to a crash. About an hour later police issued another alert saying the roadway had been reopened.

Wertsville Road Closure Could End Early, County Says

An early completion is anticipated in the middle of October.

There could be some good news for those who wish to use Wertsville Road between Amwell Road and Long Hill Road. The stretch, which has been closed since July 10 due to bridge work, may be opening earlier than originally forecast. A construction projects update released on the Somerset County website said an early completion of the project is anticipated at the beginning of October. The duration of the closure was set to last 124 days, according to the announcement. A detour has been in effect, as work is being done to replace three bridges, with one being closed at a time.

New Center Road Reopened After Accident

Police sent alert of closure early Monday afternoon.

New Center Road has been reopened after a motor vehicle crash closed it down for about an hour, according to Hillsborough Township police. An alert issued at 12:09 p.m. Monday said the road was closed between Roycefield Road to Auten Road, according to Hillsborough Township Police. Police had said the road was still closed as late as 1:10 p.m. An alert at 1:21 p.m. said the road had been reopened.
