Groups Receiving Almost $3K From Town Credit Card

Resource center, senior exercise program, dancers and scouts are awarded grants.

Four township groups will be sharing the latest proceeds from the township’s credit card program. Sharing the $2,804 will be the Resource Center of Somerset County, the Senior Low-Impact Exercise Program, Boy Scout Troop 89 and the Hillsborough Rockettes dance troupe. The four groups received their money at Tuesday’s Township Committee meeting. The Resource Center of Somerset County will use the money as general support of its program to aid victims of domestic abuse. The exercise program will purchase a stationary bike with its money while the Rockettes will buy new audio equipment for their performances. Real Cash Back as Township Non-Profits Receive Grant

Credit card program by gives $5,025.64 back to the community and eight organizations.

Eight local youth and senior non-profit organizations were at the receiving end of a grant totaling $5,025.64 awarded through the Hillsborough Rewards Visa Credit Card Program. Hillsborough Heat Baseball, the Resource Center of Somerset, Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troops 1776, the Hillsborough Family YMCA, the Hillsborough Rockettes, Woodfern HSA and Hillsborough Senior Group B were all on-hand at Tuesday’s Township Committee meeting to accept the award, presented by the township’s Credit Card Advisory Committee. “I am humbled and proud to be standing here and be part of this wonderful, ever-strengthening project. Center Provides Holidays for Families Who Can't

Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukah aren't forgotten at the Resource Center of Somerset.

Holiday dinners typically mean a day surrounded by family and a bounty of food. For the families using the Resource Center of Somerset, the county’s domestic violence shelter, that image isn’t as consistent. But, despite the lack of a normal home life, the center provides the holiday experience for its clients, with almost all of its offerings coming from community donations. “In that sense, we are very fortunate that the community is very generous with us,” Paloma Amar-Coleman, center director, said. “We are very dependent on donations and luckily, the community is very generous with us.” Amar-Coleman said the center provides for about 150 to 200 hundred clients and their families each holiday season.
