Hillsborough Township Police and the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office investigated a Friday evening accident on Route 206 South between Triangle and Farm roads. Details were not immediately available regarding the incident, which occurred at about 6:20 p.m., and may have involved a pedestrian being struck. The Hillsborough Rescue Squad, police and Somerset County Prosecutor's Office remained on the scene as of 7:45 p.m. The investigation forced police to close Route 206 South between Triangle and Farm roads for about two hours, though Route 206 North remained open. Resident allegedly strikes officer with vehicle, charged with other violations.
A Hillsborough woman was charged with aggravated assault and other violations after allegedly striking a township police officer with her vehicle Sunday night, police said. According to a release from Hillsborough Township Police, Linda Chester, 34, allegedly drove through traffic cones and road flares officers set up at the intersection of Dukes Parkway East and Taylor Avenue to prevent vehicle traffic while a utility pole fire was being extinguished Sunday at about 5:15 p.m. A Hillsborough Police officer in full uniform in a marked patrol car was blocking the intersection as well, the release said. Black Nissan reported missing from Century 21 parking lot.
An employee of Century 21 on Route 206 reported that her black Nissan was stolen from the business parking lot Nov. 11 at about 3:30 p.m. A witness in the area reported seeing a black town truck in the area, police said. Two Tall Oak Lane residents reported that their vehicles' tires were slashed during the overnight hours between Nov. 13 and Nov. 15, and reported the incident on Nov. 15, according to police. Both vehicles were parked in the parking lot at a townhouse development. Both victims estimate the value to replace their respective tires at $400.
