Hillsborough Girls Fall Short in Holiday Classic Basketball Championship

Raiders unable to bounce back from tough second quarter.

A rough second quarter that produced just four points doomed the Hillsborough High girls basketball team in a 36-30 loss to Delaware Valley Thursday in the second annual Hillsborough Holiday Classic championship game. The first quarter ended with Hillsborough and Delaware Valley nodded 11-11, but the turning point of the game came in the second quarter when the Raiders' offense was shut down for much of the quarter. Hillsborough dug itself a hole after missing several 3-point shots. The Raiders also failed to put up points in the paint during that quarter. The Raiders' lone points came off a free throw by senior guard Melissa McEnroe with 2:59 remaining and senior guard Stephanie LaManna followed with a 3-pointer as Hillsborough trailed 22…

Five Things You Should Know This Week

Gardening workshops, government and Board of Education meetings, concerts and a lot of high school sports.

1..The Board of Education will have its work meeting Monday at 7:30 p.m.  Budget season isn't for a few months, but the public is invited to share their thoughts on what should be included and what shouldn't.  The meeting is in the Auten Road Intermediate School Cafetorium. 1.5.  The Township Committee meets Tuesday at 7:30 p.m, in the Municipal Courtroom. View the agenda here. 2.  Hillsborough High School's sports teams have games throughout the week.  See the schedules here. 3. The Hillsborough High School bands, orchestra, and choirs have concerts at the high school this week.  The band concert is Tuesday at 7 p.m., and the orchestra concert is Wednesday at 7 p.m. Admission is free, so enjoy the free music. 4.
