DWI Prosecutor Plan Approved in Hillsborough

'First assistant prosecutor' duties would be revised as a specialized prosecution role.

The Hillsborough Township Committee introduced an ordinance to alter the workload of the twnship's assistant prosecutor, renaming the post the DWI special prosecutor, at Tuesday's meeting. If approved on second reading, William Fox is set to be the first DWI Special Prosecutor, removing much of the workload for such charges from the desk of Prosecutor Frank Blandino. The change follows last year's shared service agreement with Montgomery, combining the two townships' municipal court services. But with the increase in the DWI charges to prosecute—Hillsborough and Montgomery prosecuted a total of 117 DWI cases in 2012—the need for a more focused prosecutor increased. Woman Was Drunk When She Crashed, Cops Say

Hillsborough resident charged with DWI, careless driving in one-car accident.

A township woman was allegedly drunk when she crashed her vehicle at the intersection of Amwell Road and Raider Boulevard, Hillsborough Police said. Barbara Gorski, 65, was charged with DWI and careless driving following the crash on Sept. 12, police said. The incident is pending a blood analysis, police said. Gorski was released after processing.

Drunk Manville Man Crashed on Millstone River Rd., Cops Say

29-year-old charged with DWI, incident is pending blood analysis.

A Manville resident was allegedly drunk when he crashed his car on Millstone River Road last week, Hillsborough Police said. Stephen Adams, 29, was charged with DWI following the one-car crash on Aug. 23, police said. The incident is pending a blood analysis, police said. No further information was provided.

Hillsborough Man Flees Into Woods, Police Say

Authorities say man was driving while intoxicated before he eluded police.

Ronald Arbuckle Jr., 44, of Hillsborough, was charged with DWI and eluding police at about 5 a.m. Aug. 18, after allegedly leading Green Brook police on a foot chase through a wooded area near Washington Rock State Park.  Green Brook police had received a request for assistance from North Plainfield police regarding a driver believed to be intoxicated who had been seen hitting the concrete divider on Route 22 in North Plainfield by a witness. Police said the witness followed the vehicle, telling them the driver had turned on Rock Road East, stopped and exited his vehicle. Police said the witness also provided a description of the driver. Drunk Woman Crashed on E. Mountain Road, Cops Say

Hillsborough resident charged with DWI, careless driving and refusing to submit breath testing.

A Hillsborough woman was allegedly drunk when she crashed her car on East Mountain Road last month, Hillsborough Police said. Lauren Wadams, 22, was charged with DWI, careless driving and refusing to submit to breath testing, according to an incident report released Friday by the police department. Wadams was involved in a one-car accident on East Mountain Road on July 15, police said. Wadams was processed and released on her own recognizance.

Cops: Drunk Woman Drove Wrong Way on 202/206

Hillsborough resident charged with DWI in a school zone.

A Hillsborough woman was allegedly drunk when she drove the wrong way on Route 202/206 in Bridgewater, police said. Linda Perrone, 31, was charged with DWI, DWI in a school zone and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Perrone was arrested on June 20 at about 12:45 a.m., according to the Bridgewater Police Department.

Cops: 4 Nabbed Driving Drunk in Hillsborough

A township woman was nearly three times over the legal limit when she was arrested for allegedly driving drunk earlier this month, Hillsborough Police said. Kathleen Kardan, 49, was charged with DWI on June 2 after registering a .20 percent blood-alcohol level on a breath test, according to a police report released Friday. Kardan was released after processing. Thomas Hill, 45, of Hillsborough, also was charged with DWI, failure to keep right and obstructing the passage of other vehicles on Opie Road on June 17, police said. Police: Driver Involved in Crash Had Open Container

Hillsborough police arrest multiple individuals on DWI charges.

A Neshanic Station resident was found with an open container following a crash on Beekman Lane, according to Hillsborough police. Charles Diehl, 45, was arrested for DWI and having an open container in his vehicle on April 15 after police allegedly found the container while investigating the crash. Police say blood analysis is pending.

Hillsborough Woman Loses License for 10 Years

Roycefield Road resident's appeal denied of third DWI conviction in a decade.

A Hillsborough woman's appeal of her third DWI conviction in 10 years was denied by the State Superior Court. The court upheld the sentencing of Cynthia Sorrentino to 180 days in the Somerset County Jail with no driving privileges for 10 years. The third of Sorrentino's arrests came on Jan. 9, 2007, when, according to state court documents, the Hillsborough Township Police Department dispatch received a 911 call from a citizen reporting an erratic driver on Duke's Parkway in Bridgewater. The person provided a specific plate and a specific vehicle when placing the call.
