Single-car accident closed westbound lane on Tuesday night.
A single-car accident on River Road Tuesday evening between Beekman Lane and Roycefield Road caused serious damage to a car and closed down the westbound lane. The car involved overturned during the incident. However, despite the car being destroyed, police at the scene said that the three occupants were not seriously injured in the crash. The car was reportedly traveling west on River Road when the accident took place. The state and county had just announced this week that safety improvements will be made on the road with funding from the High Risk Rural Roads Program.
53-year-old taken to hospital after accident in Red Bank Saturday morning.
A Hillsborough man was taken to the hospital after he crashed into a cement slab and then into a fence in Red Bank Saturday morning, police said. James Mayer, 53, needed to be removed by emergency workers from his 2009 Honda Accord after the car veered off Prospect Avenue in Red Bank. The driver was traveling eastbound on Harding Road and missed the turn and struck a cement slab, according to Red Bank Police Sgt. Robert Gannon. The driver attempted to back out and continue down Prospect and "lost control" and crashed into a fence that separates the yard of a Fair Haven home from the road, Gannon said.
