'Decadent' Cupcake Shop Opens in Mall

Crumbs Bake Shop brings twists on classic cupcake flavors.

Frozen yogurt, ice cream—and now the Bridgewater Commons Mall has added cupcakes to its list of confections. Crumbs Bake Shop officially opened its doors April 5, bringing its decadent cupcakes that are larger than your average treat. “Our signature cupcake is about 1.5 times the size of a regular store-bought cupcake,” said Quinn Solomon, publicist for Crumbs. “However, we do have a regular size cupcake, ‘our classic,’ and a small size, our ‘taste size.’” The business, which officially opened in 2003, boasts three signature, and most popular, cupcakes, Solomon said. Those are the Red Velvet, Peanut Butter Cup and Cookies n’ Cream. “Our decadence [is what people enjoy most],” she said. “We have some of the most unique flavors and twists on…

What a great company. Microsoft employees have given over $1B to charitable organizations over the past 30 years! Where are the contributions to our world from Apple, Google and others? And I don't mean contributions that drive revenue but are driven by a desire to better the world without looking for something in return.   more ›

Poll: What Should Open at the Bridgewater Commons Mall?

The mall is planning an expansion and more businesses.

Representatives from the Bridgewater Commons Mall recently spoke before the Bridgewater Township Council with a request for a change in the developer's agreement to allow for additional expansion. Basically, the change will allow for Bloomingdale's to give up some of its rights for expansion, returning the space to the mall itself for future expansion. The plan is to do this in three installments of 10,000 square feet each. Mall representatives said a new restaurant will be coming in to the mall, but declined to say which one. But we want to know what you think. What new restaurant would you like to see come to Bridgewater? Or would you rather see a new store open? Take our poll and let us know what you are thinking, then tell us in the …

Santa Photos, Last-Minute Gifts as Christmas Nears

Children visit with St. Nick, shoppers hit Bridgewater Commons for final holiday presents.

The line of cars to enter the Bridgewater Commons went nearly a half-mile from the mall and down Route 202/206 on Sunday. But remarkably, once in the parking lot, it was not so difficult to get a good parking spot. Inside the mall, there were no long lines, no real hastle, and most of the shoppers in the mall were walking around with a bag or less.  "The shopping was great," said Van Manioudakis, of Somerset. "We thought pulling into the mall it was going to be a nightmare, but is hasn't really been that bad." The line of children and families to visit Santa was a little more than a half an hour most of the afternoon.

Black Friday Frenzy Hits Bridgewater Commons

Crowds flock for early deals at the mall.

With coffee makers, crock pots and other items discounted by as much as 80 percent, the Macy's home goods department featured long lines of shoppers with piles of boxes stacked as tall as the shoppers themselves. Stores that cater to the younger crowd such as Hollister, which had a 50 percent off "everything" sign outside, were jammed while some of the smaller specialty stores, while busy, were not overly crowded.
