A township resident for 12 years, Lorraine Soisson seeks her first term on the Hillsborough Board of Education in next Tuesday's election. Soissone, 45, is a scientist who runs programs for the U.S. government to develop malaria vaccines to save children in Africa. Soissone and her husband, Stephen, also a scientist, have two children, Hanna, 13, a student at Hillsborough Middle School, and Elena, 11, a sixth-grader at Auten Road Intermediate School. Patch asked Soissone why she's seeking to be a member of the Board of Education, her thoughts on the current board's decision to spend approximately $1 million less in the 2012-13 budget than the state-mandated 2-percent tax levy cap, the challenges that face the district, her goals if elected…
