Delays expected as Route 206 bypass project moves into the next phase.
Motorists on Amwell Road east of Route 206 will face delays on Friday as a new traffic pattern is installed in two phases by the new Route 206 bypass. Traffic will follow a new alignment over a new bridge, and there will be a new traffic signal that will become operational at the intersection of Amwell Road and the service road. Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday, eastbound traffic on Amwell Road between Route 206 and Steinmetz Road will be shifted. One lane will be closed as the new lanes are marked. Between 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday, traffic on Amwell Road will be alternated in each direction between Route 206 and Willow Road in the second phase of the project.

Blaze shut down portion of roadway Tuesday night.
No one was injured in a residential fire on Amwell Road near Murray Drive Tuesday night. The fire, which broke out at about 8 p.m., closed Amwell Road as fire companies from Hillsborough and Flagtown extinguished the blaze. No one was injured and the fire did not appear to be suspicious, officers on the scene said. The incident was just east of the fire that gutted a historic Amwell Road home adjacent to JML Landscaping in March.

Be careful on Amwell. They dropped the speed limit to 35 from Willow to Woods. Most people, after it being 45 for 50 years, don't notice the one little sign, and I've seen people pulled over almost every day. Also, please don't tailgate me. I don't want a ticket. It is probably necessary until the construction is finished, but it is effectively a speed trap.   more ›
