The Hillsborough High School football team had its season come to an end at the hand of a tough South Brunswick squad, 63-14, on Friday night. The Vikings came into the Central, Group IV playoffs as the No. 1 seed, and showed way against the Raiders, which were seeded eighth. Mid-State 39–West A Standings are a combination of Patch records, as well as from NJ.com. Coaches are required by the NJSIAA to submit results to NJ.com in order to be eligible for the post season, due to a contract between the two. The Bridgewater-Raritan Panthers have only one win this season, but on Friday night against Phillipsburg they played like they were one of the top teams in the conference, nearly defeating Phillipsburg (6-2) in a game that went down to the last minute, according to NJ.com. Phillipsburg had been behind by four points before scoring a touchdown with 45 seconds remaining in the game. Hillsborough lost one of its most important games of the season against North Hunterdon in a game that went to overtime. Hillsborough came back to tie the game in the fourth quarter, but could not hold on, giving up three points to North Hunterdon in the first overtime, losing 30-27. John Banaciski scored three of Hillsborough’s rushing touchdowns in the game. …

Team's record falls below .500 after final regular season game.
The Hillsborough High School football team battled to tie the game in the fourth quarter, only to fall to North Hunterdon in overtime Friday night. The game was the final one of the regular season for the Raiders. For a recap of Friday night's overtime contest, head here.

There are four undefeated teams left in the Mid-State 39 Conference.
Two games ago, Hillsborough was 4-2 and had won two straight games to get there. Two weeks later, after losses to Union and Phillipsburg, the Raiders are back at even going into their last game of the regular season against North Hunterdon on Friday. Last week, North Hunterdon squeaked by Montgomery with a 21-20 win after scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter, according to NJ.com. When Hillsborough defeated Montgomery in September, it was in another game that came down to the fourth quarter, with the Raiders pulling out the last minute win, 18-14. Week 8 a big one for both those near the bottom of the standings, as well as those on top.
Week 8 was full of important games throughout the Mid-State 39 Conference. In the Watchung Division, two of the top teams in the conference, Immaculata (8-0) and Elizabeth (6-2) faced each other in a game that forced Immaculata to defend its position atop the division. NJ.com reported that Immaculata came away with the victory and remains the top ranked team by The Star-Ledger in the conference, and one of only four undefeated Mid-State 39 teams left this season. In the Mountain Division, two teams that were undefeated, Summit and Cranford, battled for first place. The Hillsborough High School football team travelled to Phillipsburg Friday evening and for the second week in a row the Raiders gave up a 90-plus yard scoring play as they fell to the Stateliners, 28-14.
