Population growth in the 2000s forced the district to convert the school from elementary to intermediate students. Prior to the conversion, district elementary schools housed students in grades kindergarten through five, while grades six, seven and eight attended Hillsborough Middle School.
Students are divided into 11 fifth-grade teams and six sixth-grade teams, and receive the majority of their lessons from the team teachers. Two teachers lead the fifth grade teams, while three or four teachers lead the sixth grade teams.
In addition to reading, math, social studies, writing and science, the students take physical education every day. Sixth grade students have art, music, German and Spanish for one marking period each year, while fifth grades rotate between music, art, Italian, French and computers.
Principal Christopher Carey leads the school, which has the Mini-Raider has its mascot.

The school offers full-day and half-day programs that occur in the morning. Programs for older children include homework help and play groups. Though the school does not provide its own transportation; the Hillsborough Board of Education provides free after-school transportation to the school for students from Hillsborough, Triangle, Sunnymead and Woodfern Elementary Schools, and from Auten Road Intermediate School.

Principal Joe Trybulski leads the school. The school maintains a "Stronger Together" mentality, and encourages collaboration between students, teachers, parents and administrators. The school groups each grade into five seventh and five eighth grade teams, with a group of teachers teaching each of the subjects to the students in those teams. Though the students spend the entire day with their team, the school's clubs, bands, choir, sports and other extracurricular activities allow students to interact across their grades.
