Spamalot, Eagle Watching and Yoga in the Park This Weekend

Huzzah, the weekend is coming! Here are some fun things to get out and do around Somerset County.

Even though Labor Day is behind us, there's still lots of fun things to get out and do around Somerset County this weekend

Monty Python's take on King Arthur's legendary search for the Holy Grail provided rich fodder for a smash Broadway musical—which will be presented on stage at the Somerset Valley Playhouse, complete with killer rabbits, cows and perhaps a few knights-who-say-you-know-what, starting Friday.

"Monthy Python's Spamalot" was a smash on Broadway, with music co-written by original Python member Eric Idle. The Somerset Valley Players' version, directed by Howard Whitmore with musical direction by Teddy Kernizan,  runs through Oct. 6.

Here's a roundup of some other things to keep you busy this weekend:

  • From now until the end of November, you can enjoy a great escape at the Washington Valley Park Hawk Watch Area, off Vosseller Avenue at the end of Miller Lane in the Martinsville section of Bridgewater.
  • St. Bernard's Church in Bernardsville will be sponsoring a blood drive on Saturday, September 14th between the hours of 10am and 3pm.
  • Get your "om" on at Yoga in the Park on Saturdays in September from 9-10 a.m. at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater.
