Somerset Valley Players Open 'Yes, Virginia'

Perfect Christmas entertainment opens Friday and runs through Dec. 22.

Inspired by 8-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon's letter to the New York Post more than 100 years ago, "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus" fills in where the resulting Sun editorial leaves off.

The two-act play by Andrew J. Fenady has been performed on the radio, made into a movie—and on Friday, staged by the Somerset Valley Players. The play is "for young and old, magically reaffirming life's highest beauty and joy," according to the publisher—but you can check it out for yourself.

Directed by Emily M. Windus, the SVP performances will be offered at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings, and at 2 p.m. on Sundays, through Dec. 22 (there's also an additional 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Dec. 14).

Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for seniors and students, and are available on the Somerset Valley Theatre website
